Four Spells to Bind Seven Fairies

Publishing occult literature is a wonderful job, but every so often I need to create something that has nothing to do with anyone else but me. In this case, it is a miniature edition of Folger ms Xd 234, also known as “a spell to bind the seven sisters of the fairies to you for ever”. This manuscript can be seen online here, and read about in Frederika Bain’s “The Binding of the Fairies: Four Spells”, published by Penn State University Press in Vol. 1, No. 2 of Preternature: Critical and Historical Studies on the Preternatural.

I have a long-standing love of the fairies, and when this short work caught my eye, I knew I needed to bind it. You can read about the making of this book here on my website. I am officially releasing the book here.

Bound especially for Hadean Press is a limited, numbered, and signed edition of Four Spells to Bind Seven Fairies. The books are true miniatures, measuring 75mm by 52mm, and have been printed on 90 gsm Hahnemühle Medieval Laid paper. The endbands are hand-sewn in black and gold thread, and the endpapers are Jemma Lewis one-offs marbled in the Stormont pattern (also used on the box). The books are covered in vegetable tanned textured goat skin. They each come with a pewter magnifying glass from The Coleshill Collection.

These are available on my own website, which is where I’ll be selling our handbound books from now on. Please visit the shop here for pricing and shipping information.

Thank you for your continued enthusiasm for the work that I do, and for your support of our small press. Dis and I appreciate you all.
