Hadean Press is closed today, 17 January, as we come to terms with the loss of Jake Stratton-Kent, who according to his partner died peacefully earlier this morning. It is impossible to imagine what Hadean Press would have been without him, and impossible to imagine how we will go on without him. Dis has known Jake since the 80s, whereas Erzebet first sent him a starry-eyed email in 2007. By 2009 we were working together on the Hadean Press catalogue. Jake shared his knowledge and expertise as well as ideas that would later come to help Hadean thrive. He was always there for us with a kind message in our early days, and in the later days we worked closely together on his various projects. To say he will be missed is an understatement, and our hearts go out to his family and friends and all of those whose lives he touched through his work and presence.

Before he passed, we promised him we would publish his Night School Volume 2 come hell or high water, because we know that is what he wanted. He also assured us that he wanted his work to remain in print. But that is business, and today is for remembering our friend, who in truth will still be us as he is elevated now to the legion of beloved dead.

As Iamblichus once said: don't fucking wing it, grab yer Agrippa and sort it out! — Jake Stratton-Kent
